Notes From an Environmentalist; Plum Island Erosion Increasing.

Erosion from the center of Plum Island both North and South has increased in the last few years. Sandy Point has expanded to the point where sand has covered some of shellfish beds, Emerson rocks are under sand, "Center Groin" picture here is almost buried and a million cubic yards of sand is being held back from the homes on Reservation Terrace by the South Jetty.
