“Two Years Left to Save the World”
UN Climate Chief Simon Stiell
April 9, 2024
Its that time of year when it’s time to take stock. March was just declared the hottest March on record for both air and ocean temperatures.
As we know particularly well in New England, March is also the time when the cooler ocean air battles the warmer air over land for ascendency. It is setting us up for another hot smoky summer and a potentially catastrophic hurricane season.
Some of this has to do with El Nino, which will probably dissipate in August, but most of this unprecedented warming is because of greenhouse gases and all of them are continuing to climb at an alarming rate.
On April 9th, UN Climate Chief Simon Stiell stated that humanity only has two years left to save the world by cutting back carbon emissions and lining up finances for such a transformative shift.
He also points out that nearly half of the world’s populations will be holding elections this year which leaves us with exactly one year left to vote to save our planet. So enjoy spring, it could be the coolest for the rest of our lives!
That being said, we need Biden to win in November!
