Notes from an Environmentalist; Last three storms have washed 400 feet over Plum Island's Engineers Beach threatening homes.
Plum Island has taken a beating during the past three storms. Water washed 400 feet over the new beach built by the Corps of Engineers. It looks like the city is preparing to install coir bags to give residents more time until a weir can be built into South Jetty.
IMO, the DCR(?) is putting in a walkway. It is DCR property. Perhaps , coir bags to keep sand from covering the walkway. if you look at Plum Island Outdoors Facebook Discussion Group you can see sand on the Parking Lot 1 Boardwalk.
Has a weir can be built into South Jetty been scheduled?
