On August 25th I took a delightful cruise down the Essex River to see the extent of shoaling. Ipswich has gained several acres of productive sand flats and Gloucester has lost several feet off Wingaersheek Beach. The town boundary has moved as the channel has impinged further onto Wingaersheek. A hydrographic vessel was in port to survey the river for potential dredging.
We had spectacular view of some of the old houses on both sides of the river and sturgeon leaping out of the water to rid themselves of parasites. Special thanks to Essex River Cruises!
