Notes from an Environmentalist; Climate change allows blue crabs to get around Cape Cod and establish a population on the North Shore!
Notes from an Environmentalist
We are monitoring this weekend's upcoming storm and will schedule a beach walk after it passes to see the results. Attached is an amazing sight. This is the shell of blue crab on Clarke's Beach in Ipswich. Climate change has allowed their planktonic larvae to make it around the biological barrier of Cape Cod and establish a population on the North Shore. While this makes them technically an invasive species, as a kid growing up on Cape Cod catching blue crabs, an invasive species is sometimes in the eye of the beholder!
NE oysters are better than Chesapeake, but Chesapeake Blue Crab is unbeatable!❤️🙂
