Beware the Tides of March!
From March 8 to March 15 we will be in a window of vulnerability where the new moon high tides will rise as high as 9.8 feet at the Merrimack River Entrance and higher in Ipswich.
If we get a storm during that period we could have severe erosion, but this month's Full Moon high tides will be trivial hovering around 8 feet.
This is because the moon is closest and furthest way from the earth in its elliptical orbit. The next time this happens the earth will be closest and furthest to the sun in the 2030's and we can expect especially high tides. But as one of my subscribers has written if I would just stop talking about the tides they wouldn't be so high! I agree LOL
In “Tides of March”..Be Prepared! 🙂lol
