Great White Sharks Will Close Crane’s Beach
for all of October;
Climate Change is the Culprit
Crane’s Beach will be closed for another month due to juvenile Great White Sharks off this popular Massachusetts Beach. Helicopter surveys have reported six to thirty of the sharks feeding on Striped Bass which are feeding on sand launce.
The sharks were born in a nursery south of Cape Cod. They are still too young to catch seals and have moved north to escape competition from older sharks.
Warmer ocean temperatures are causing young Great White Sharks to expand north followed by adults in other areas of the world as recorded off the Monterey Aquarium.
