Stranded dolphin in Ipswich, MA
This dolphin stranded in the shallow waters of Plum Island Sound. It had probably lingered in this area because the waters were warmer and fish were more plentiful than usual this season. These same conditions had also contributed to the Great White Sharks seen off Crane’s Beach and in Plum Island Sound in the Fall.
The dolphin probably then became cold shocked and disoriented in Plum Island Sound’s shallow waters.
